Orthopaedic and Diabetic Footwear

When you have diabetes you need to ensure you look after your feet. This may involve seeing a Foot Health Care Specialist or Chiropodist or just taking extra care yourself. Diabetes can affect your ability to feel any rubs as well as impair healing.

Did you know however, ensuring that the shoes you wear are good should also be part of this footcare. Shoes that are the wrong size, too flexible, too firm, or with prominent seams can all put your feet at risk of rubs and sores. It is also important that the insoles in your shoes reduce high pressure areas on the bottom of your feet.

If you are unable to find suitable footwear/house shoes due to your diabetes or foot shape then please contact me. I am able to prescribe and measure for both Off The Shelf and fully bespoke Orthopaedic and Diabetic Footwear. This includes adaptations for leg length inequality, caliper sockets, footwear wedges and flares.

Paediatric Footwear

Childrens Orthopaedic Footwear is prescribed for a number of different reasons but usually as part of a multidisciplinary treatment pathway within the NHS. Sometimes you would like to have more pairs than the NHS is able to supply, sometimes they are not able to supply footwear for over splints or sometimes the waiting list is just longer than you would like. This is when I can help.

Styles have improved so much now compared to a number of years ago offering different many colour choices and alternative fastenings and as well as school specific styles. Some companies styles are better suited to individuals than others and many are not available for you to order yourself. So if you are unsure as to the best style for your child come for an appointment and I will be able to help.
